An exploration of medium, texture and form. Skin like blushes, bruised like tones, peachy/saguine paint built up on canvas and sculpted with lightweight material which is marked by fraigle torn, floral like forms that echo the fragility of human skin/bodies. Drapped delicately over the canvas the negative space leaves a moment of pause and wonderment, what stories do these disembodied bruises tell? What words would they utter if they could? The Dermis Series as it is shown was completed in 2008.
“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”
